Binance Expands Crypto Payments and Blockchain Education in Kyrgyzstan

Binance has entered into a strategic partnership with Kyrgyzstan’s National Agency for Investments to implement crypto payment infrastructure and launch blockchain education programs in the country. This collaboration was reaffirmed on May 4 during the inaugural meeting of the Council for the Development of Digital Assets, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on April 3. According to Crypto News, the MoU aims to introduce crypto payment infrastructure through Binance Pay, enabling users and merchants in Kyrgyzstan to make and accept crypto payments, with the broader goal of facilitating cross-border financial flows.

Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov expressed optimism about the partnership, stating, “I’m confident that our cooperation will open new horizons not only for the country but for the entire region.” The agreement also includes the launch of educational programs focused on blockchain, virtual assets, and cybersecurity. Binance Academy will collaborate with Kyrgyz institutions to provide training for government officials, regulators, financial institutions, and the general public, aiming to increase digital literacy and prepare local professionals for roles in the expanding blockchain and Web3 sector.

Beyond education and payments, Binance will offer technical and regulatory expertise to assist Kyrgyz authorities in developing policy frameworks and infrastructure for blockchain adoption. This support encompasses consulting on virtual asset regulation and advising on the integration of blockchain technology in public services. The partnership comes shortly after Kyrgyzstan signed a constitutional law to pilot a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), granting the “digital som” legal tender status. Testing of the platform is expected later this year, with the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan overseeing its issuance and circulation. The final decision on the official adoption of the digital som is anticipated by the end of 2026.
